Murder victim’s parents have lost ‘life and soul of our world’

The heartbroken parents of Jack Donoghue have paid tribute to their ‘monkey’, saying: “We’ve lost our life and soul of our world.’

Jack, 21, was stabbed to death outside Popworld on Poplar Road, Solihull , in the early hours of Saturday morning, November 30. Four men have been arrested in connection with the murder while police have issued an appeal to trace a fifth man, 21-year-old Tyrall Blake.

Heartbreaking tributes to Jack, including flowers and cards, have been left at the scene, which took place at around 3am.

One note, written on a card from Jack’s parents said: “To monkey. What will life be like without you in it. Stolen from us. We’ve lost our life and soul of our world. Heartbroken mum and dad.”

Another moving tribute, from his cousi,n said: “You had the biggest influence one me throughout your whole life. You encouraged me to do so much and the the best person i could be. We have so many happy memories, so many amazing times we have had.

Manish wrote on a card: “Jack where do I start. I’m shocked and miss you loads. I know your up there smiling and dancing. Love you forever bro.”

Det Insp Dave Keen made a direct appeal to 21-year-old Blake after the force took the rare step of identifying him in an appeal over Jack’s death.

He tweeted: “Do the right thing” as he shared an appeal over Blake’s whereabouts.

The suspect’s name and picture was released late on Sunday night, December 1, after four other men were arrested in connection with the investigation.

A 20 and 23- year-old were arrested on suspicion of murder and violent disorder, a 21-year-old on suspicion of murder, robbery and violent disorder and a 39-year-old on suspicion of assisting an offender. All four were being questioned by police on Monday.

Solihull Police said: “We need your help to find Tyrall Blake, wanted in connection with the murder of Jack Donoghue in Solihull. Have you seen him?

“Officers from across the force have been following a number of lines of enquiry to trace Blake, but he has not yet been arrested. Four other men have been arrested in connection with Jack’s death.

“If you’ve seen Blake please call 999 immediately. Anyone who may be shielding him through a sense of misguided loyalty, should be aware that they are committing an offence and will be prosecuted.”

Det Insp Jim Mahon, leading the investigation, said: “We’ve been working hard to establish what happened to Jack following up a number of lines of enquiry.

“These arrests are a significant development in our investigation, but I’m now asking for the public’s help in tracing Blake, who we believe was involved in Jack’s murder.

“If anyone knows where he is or thinks they may have seen him, I’d urge them to ring 999 immediately.

“Anyone who may be shielding him through a sense of misguided loyalty, should be aware that they are committing an offence and will be prosecuted.

“It’s vitally important that we speak to Blake. My message to him, is to do the right thing and let us know where you are.”

In a statement issued after the tragedy, Jack’s family said: “The family are devastated that Jack, our fun loving, doting son has been stolen from us.

“His laughter and smile filled every room. He had a massive heart and he loved and cared for his family and friends. He would do anything for anyone.

“We are thankful to have had so many beautiful memories of our amazing boy.
