Inside Track: Aly Raisman launches casual wear collection with Aerie

Aly Raisman’s latest project has us practically doing cartwheels. The Needham-raised gymnast is about to launch an upcoming collection of casual wear, as part of a continuing collaboration.

“I am so excited to share with you guys that I’m launching a signature collection with Aerie,” the Olympian recently announced on social media, inviting fans to join her for an upcoming launch party.

The gold medalist and the clothing company will kick off the new Aerie x Aly Raisman collection in true Raisman fashion, with a morning of “self-care shopping” on April 6. The early-riser event will take place at an Aerie store in New York City, where people will start their days with a boxing class featuring martial artist and stuntwoman Kendra Smith. Raisman then plans to guide guests through a cool-down and lead the group in meditation, a practice that she’s been seriously pushing among her fan base over the last few months. Following the morning of muscles and mindfulness, people are invited to stick around for the celebration, hang out with the athlete and shop her exclusive collection.

This endeavor isn’t the first time our local lady and Aerie have teamed up. Previously, Raisman served as one of the models for its #AerieReal campaign alongside other powerful gals like E! late night host Busy Philipps, “The Good Place” star Jameela Jamil and Samira Wiley of “Orange Is The New Black” and “The Handmaid’s Tale.” Much like in that campaign, Raisman has personally been an advocate for body positivity, female empowerment and forgoing photo retouching.

For more details about the officially launch party, which will be held at the Aerie storefront on NYC’s Spring Street, go to its Eventbrite page. People can reserve a spot for free and, as an added incentive to snag some of the new pieces, 15 percent of the sales made (up to $75G) will be donated to the nonprofit Darkness to Light and its efforts to empower adults to prevent child sexual abuse.
