Family-Owned Children’s Store, Bumbelou, Re-Opens

MANKATO, Minn. — A family-owned children’s clothing store on Riverfront Drive is reopening after disaster struck in January, flooding out the storefront only four months after they opened.
Customers and community members came to Bumbelou April 13 to celebrate at the grand re-opening and get their hands on the clothing and accessories, which the owners said have a mother‘s touch.
“We are unique in that we also make a lot of our products, so all of the Bumbelou clothing and Bumbelou hair accessories, we produce in the backside of our building,” said owner, Jenna Odegard, “so I have a team of women who help me; I do the designing, we have fabrics made exclusively for us and then we cut sew and manufacture all of that here as well.”
Odegard said she’s excited to return to the space that allows her to stay connected to the community.
“When I was presented with the space to serve the community through activities like story time, craft projects, the Easter Bunny and just to connect with people on that level, my heart opened up to it so fast and I was so excited to do that,” said Odegard.
Odegard said they’ve donated part of their profits to charity since day one and she recently concluded a fundraiser toward the Communities Against Domestic Abuse in Mankato.
