 On April 22, 2025, a notable crime involved the arrest of Jared C. Nesmith in Arcadia, New York. He unlawfully entered a victim's residence while armed with a machete and made verbal threats. Nesmith was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including Burglary 1st (B Felony), Menacing 2nd (A Misdemeanor), and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd (D Felony) after being located by state troopers at his residence

   In Washington, D.C. on April 20, 2025, two separate violent incidents occurred in Washington, D.C. The first incident involved a shooting at the intersection of 1st Street and P Street Southwest, where an adult male sustained gunshot wounds. The second incident was a stabbing that took place on a street block resulting in injuries to an adult man and two juvenile males who also suffered gunshot wounds. All victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
