Woman Injured By Gunfire Following Dispute With Auto Burglar Assailant Still At Large

In Columbus, OH a woman in the eastern district sustained a gunshot wound early this morning July 11, 2025 after challenging an individual she witnessed attempting to steal automobiles. The assailant is still being sought. The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, allegedly observed an unknown man breaking into cars near Mayfair Apartments. She and her adult daughter chased the burglar and confronted him, at some point during the chase she was shot. The victim was taken to Grant Medical Center. Her current condition is unknown, but authorities confirmed she was alive as of noon today.
