Police Officers Hurt At McAllen Texas Border Protection Center After Gunfire
In McAllen, Texas July 8, 2025 Three law enforcement officials sustained injuries yesterday morning when a gunman commenced firing at the entrance of a U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) station in McAllen, Texas. The attacker, tentatively identified as Ryan Louis Mosqueda, was taken down by law enforcement personnel who responded courageously to the occurrence. The attacker allegedly carrying a combat rifle and a "tactical vest," discharged numerous bullets at federal officers as they left the structure, situated close to the U.S.-Mexico boundary. McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez indicated that federal agents retaliated, ultimately resulting in Mosqueda's death. Authorities are scrutinizing the reason for the violent act. Preceding the incident, Mosqueda's parent had alerted Weslaco police that his offspring was experiencing mental health challenges and was in possession of guns in his vehicle. The white, two-door car Mosqueda drove to the building allegedly had markings on the driver's side door, though their meaning or relevance to the attack is currently unknown. Law enforcement found additional weaponry, ammunition, and backpacks inside the vehicle after Mosqueda was killed.
