Waterbury Man Samuel Lopez 47 Dies On Washington Street After Double-Stabbing

In Waterbury, CT, a 47-year-old Waterbury man, Samuel Lopez, was killed in a double-stabbing incident that occurred on Washington Street on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Waterbury police identified Lopez as the victim of the fatal attack, which they are investigating as a homicide. According to police, officers responded to a report of a stabbing around 9:35 p.m. in the 60 block of Washington Street. Upon arrival, they found Lopez outside, suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. A second individual also sustained injuries in the incident, described as a "serious facial laceration" and a minor cut. This person was treated at a hospital and subsequently released. 

Driver Suspected Of DUI During High-Speed Crash Into CHP Vehicle In Sacramento CA

In SACRAMENTO, CA a criminal driver is suspected of DUI after their Corvette crashed into a California Highway Patrol (CHP) vehicle at a high rate of speed on Friday night, injuring a CHP officer and the driver. The incident occurred around 10:45 p.m. on northbound Highway 99 near Sheldon Road in Sacramento County.  According to the CHP, an officer was providing security for a construction zone when their patrol vehicle was struck from behind by the Corvette. The impact sent the CHP officer to Kaiser South with minor injuries, while the driver of the Corvette sustained moderate to major injuries.
