Palm Springs reaches very hot temps in the summer and temperatures above 110 are not uncommon. Last year in 2024 a record high of 125 degrees was recorded. Other data has also indicated an increase in sex offenses, assaults, and homicides. Specifically, the number of assaults rose from 613 incidents in 2023 to 635 in 2024. However, aggravated assaults—those involving serious injury—actually declined slightly from 178 to 172 during the same period. 

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA USA. - Two people were killed and three others were wounded in an attack during a Fourth of July neighborhood rally in a Southern California beach town, police said Friday. The county coroner Friday morning removed two bodies from the crime scene, which lay on a grassy median in a palm-lined neighborhood. The violence was a few blocks from the ocean community known as "Surf City USA."
