STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAW) — As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a group at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point has put together a unique display trying to disprove one of the biggest myths about sexual assault in our culture.
The group ‘PAVE,’ or Promoting Awareness/Victim Empowerment, has put together an array of clothing items from victims to show what they were wearing at the time of their attack. The executive director says she came up with the idea a month ago.
“The main thing we want survivors and the community to take away is that you’re not alone and how much of a growing issue this is and that we’re finally calling attention to it. Meaning, it’s time we hold people accountable. It’s time we support survivors and create a comfortable environment for them,” said Katilyn Keech.
