We’ve been following the Duggar family for years — and it’s no secret that the family loves the idea of having a lot of kids. Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar famously have 19 children as they first chronicled on 19 Kids and Counting. And thanks to shows like Counting On, we’ve been able to keep up with the family as the older children grow up, marry, and start their own families.
Jessa Duggar, who now goes by the last name Seewald after marrying her husband, Ben, tied the knot back in 2014 and was pregnant soon after. Now, many suspect she could be hoping to have more kids than her famous mom. Here’s what we know.
Jessa didn’t waste much time after her wedding to get pregnant with her first child. And now, she and Ben Seewald are caring for two little boys, Spurgeon, 3, and Henry, 2, as they prepare to add another little one to the family.
People reports Jessa and Ben are expecting their third child in the spring of 2019, and the two are overjoyed to be gifted with yet another baby — and they suspect it’ll be another boy, too. As Jessa told the publication, “From the day we found out we were expecting, we both guessed boy, and if our predictions are right then we already have a ton the clothing and accessories ready to pass down!” She noted they’d also love to switch things up and have a little girl, too, though that may require a more severe learning curve.
Ben’s also ecstatic to be the parent of three children. He told People, “We love being parents and are really looking forward to this new arrival!” And their reactions make fans believe that even after baby No. 3 arrives, they certainly won’t be finished.
Having three children would be more than enough for many new parents to handle, but it seems Jessa and Ben might keep trying until they’ve caught up to Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar. Back in 2014, E! News notes Jessa and Ben talked about the possibility of having children prior to their marriage, and they both seemed totally excited to have as many kids as possible. As Jessa said, “I might have more than 19 kids. Probably not all biological. I want to adopt a lot.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard Jessa (and other Duggar kids) discuss the idea of adoption, either. We can’t forget what Jessa told Us Weekly in 2016: “We have many friends who have walked this road, so we have seen firsthand the amazing power of adoption.” And back in May 2018, In Touch Weekly reminds us fans were speculating that Ben and Jessa may have been trying to go through the adoption process. The publication reports one Reddit user said, “They’ve been talking about adoption since the beginning and I think they understand that it will be easier to do now with only two children than later when they have however many more.”
Happy Mother‘s Day, Momma! These past two years, I’ve gotten a taste of just how challenging this mothering thing can be. I pray often for even a small portion of your patience to be granted to me! I’m blown away by God’s grace in your life as you went about this journey. So many things stand out to me about the way you lovingly raised us, and I can’t help but write down a few… . When I was stubborn or unruly, you’d choose to whisper words of gentle correction instead of shouting at or scolding me– and that brought down angry emotions and modeled to me self-control, even in stressful times. . Though I often deserved to be looked upon with suspicion, I’d instead catch you looking at me with a loving smile on your face, and hear “I love you, Jessa!” from your lips– and that unconditional love carried with it power that could squelch even the most mischievous plans from my mind. . Arts and craft projects you’d prepare for us, that made as much mess as they did fun– and yet you rejoiced in these moments of our childhood instead of fretting about the forthcoming cleanup. . When we were underfoot in the kitchen and mealtime was fast approaching, you’d pull up a stool and let us be “Mommy’s big helper”– even if that meant that dinner was a little late, and we “mixed” the bowl of ingredients so well that we scattered flour dust all over the place. . I recollect vividly the time I tried to carry a glass dish of pasta across the kitchen on roller skates, and it didn’t turn out so well. You’d think less of the fragile things that were accidentally broken, and think more of our youthful emotions… feeling dumb, clumsy or embarrassed. “Don’t worry about it. Let me help you pick that up! I remember a time when I did such-and-such…” (P.S. I did start to notice… CLICK LINK IN BIO TO READ MORE ❤️
Could Jessa really want 19 kids like her mom? It seems highly likely, especially if adoption comes into play. And it’s also important to remember that Michelle only stopped having children because of her body and age, and it had nothing to do with the desire for no more children.
It’s been noted in the past that the Duggars certainly don’t believe in birth control, as they believe they could be interfering with God’s plans with the usage of it. And she’s even said in the past that she would have loved to have more kids if God blessed her with the privilege to do so. Michelle even gave birth to a 20th child — but sadly, that child was stillborn.
Michelle never explored adoption as an option for herself, but we’re betting if it means more grandchildren, she’d be totally for it. We’ll have to wait and see just how many kids Jessa and Ben will have, but here’s hoping for the safe arrival of their third!
