James Gordon Nagel Jr., 46, and Tiffany Marie Jensen, 24, were arrested Wednesday, Aug. 8, on suspicion of willful cruelty to a child after their 2-year-old son suffered a severe dog bite, according to a San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department statement.
According to authorities, Nagel and Jensen on July 31 took the child to the Colorado River Medical Center, telling hospital staff there that he had been attacked by a stray dog on a beach. The child was flown to a hospital in Las Vegas for surgery and the medical center notified law enforcement about the incident, authorities said.
According to the sheriff’s statement, the couple was “well aware of the family dog’s aggressiveness, but did not take the proper measure to protect their children.” Nagel and Jensen were on county felony probation for child neglect at the time of both alleged dog bites, police added.
